Quick and Easy Mother's Day Card

Happy Mother's Day!

Wait, what?  It's not this weekend...DON'T PANIC!!  :)

But if it was, wouldn't you like a quick and easy card you can make for mom to pop in the mail so you can be early this year?!

How about this?

The beauty of this card is that the elements are so simple!

The Fresh Prints Designer Paper Pack is the perfect backdrop for the cloud of good news!

The ribbon has a pom pom look to it by tying multiple pieces together leaving tails all over the place.
Notice the words on the cloud?  You can send this to your mom, your aunt, your gramma, your sister....whoever!  I hand wrote the sentiment and used a thumping technique with the markers to get a multicolored effect.

Ready to make this card?

Cardstock:  Island Indigo, Basic Black, Whisper White

My fellow designers over at SSInkspiration are hoping to help you with that quandary!

Check out what everyone else is up to....go ahead, I'll wait....

Welcome Back!

I am so sad to see the 2012-2014 In-colors go.  They have been my absolute favorite.
Here is an example of why I love them so much!

Have I mentioned before how much I LOVE My Paper Pumpkin?  The DSP in the background is Watercolor Wonder from the Occasions Catalog:  Get it before the end of May, its going to retire!

The card background will never retire! It's actually handmade!
I used 2 different arrows from 2 different PP kits.

Make this card!
Cardstock:  Gumball Green, Midnight Muse, Summer Starfruit, Very Vanilla
Ink:  GG, MM, SS
Markers:  GG, MM, SS
Candy Dots, Summer Starfruit Stitched Ribbon, Dimensionals

Hope this helps you man-up your cards this week!

SSInkspiration Color Challenge !!

There is nothing I love more than a challenge!  Especially a color challenge!

This month's challenge is brought to you by SSInkspiration!

Here is my take on these colors!

HeHeHe   These little guys are SO much fun!!  This is actually a flower from the Simple Stems stamp set!!
Simple Stems

Ha Ha  I love the googly eyes.  Makes these little critters entirely TOO CUTE!!

The sentiment was from our Yippee-Skippee Stamp set.

Yippee-Skippee!
I hand cut the sentiment to give it a whimsical feel.  The background is offset also for the same feel.  I love the contrast between the straight background and the sloppy top layer.
Hope you enjoyed today's color challenge!  Be sure to head on over to SSInkspirations and see what my fellow designers came up with using these 3 great colors!

Ombre ~ A graduation exercise!

I LOVE Ombre!!!!

There is something sexy, vibrant, sometimes subtle, and magical about a slowly moving color palette.  Whether its from light to dark, or color to color.  I just love watching it move!!
In this card I used Elegant Eggplant, Perfect Plum, and Blush Blossom.  These three colors compliment each other well.   After embossing with black embossing powder, the contrast made me happy!

Note to self:  when working with Ombre:  start with the lightest color and work up to dark.  *especially when coloring with markers!  And don't be afraid to blur the lines!  Use dark, medium and light, but then be sure to overlap to create that soft, smooth transition.  I used a sponge to rub the ink on Whisper White paper.

Hope your day goes from good to GREAT!
Thanks for stopping by!  Check out some of my designer friends at SSInkspiration.blogspot.com for more sweet looking Ombre cards!  You will not be disappointed!!

April Fool's Day!! Faux is the word of the day!

Happy First of April!

Also known in my house as:  Prank Daddy Day!!

My kids and I really enjoy practical jokes and when my love for all things funny collide with my love of crafting...this is what you get!

Here is a quick link to the Faux-Leather Technique used to create this AWESOMELY fun background!

Who knew raiding the hubby's toolbox could be so fun!

The great thing about this technique is you can make your 'leather' any color you want!  Makes a really cool neutral background...looks 'manly' and EVERYONE will want to know how you did it!

And can we talk about the balloons?!  A friend showed me this super cute idea and I thought it was the perfect 'trick' to add to this piece!
Use any size circle punch...and cut a cute little triangle out and VOILA! You just made a balloon!
The best part, our Natural Twine, Bakers Twine, or any string you choose works great here.
Wrap it around and call it a day!  No knots!!
Also:  I used two dimensionals on top of each other to get the Summer Starfruit balloon to pop on top of the Gumball Green balloon which only used one dimensional.  The Razzberry Ripple Balloon is secured with just a glue dot.  Gives multi layers and adds dimension.

Want to see some more amazing examples using this technique?
Head on over to SSINKSPIRATION and see what my fellow designers have come up with!
