Quick and Easy Peasy does it!

Quick and Easy Wednesday!

What is quicker than using scraps and a framelit?!

How cute are these guys?!!
They were leftover from another project, and honestly, I crumbled them up accidentally and then "POOF" an inspiration hit!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE these new framelits!!  I cannot wait to show them to you!

I also love the stamp set Mingle All The Way!
This is only half of the stamped image...the rest is super cute too!!  and there are a mix of fall/winter holiday sayings in it!   Super Super Fun!

Thanks for poppin in today!  Wanna see what the rest of the SSInk Design team considers "Quick and Easy" ?!  Check it out HERE.

My Paper Pumpkin - July

EEK!  Who else got their MyPaperPumpkin kit this month and squealed like a little girl?!  I sure did!!
What is My Paper Pumpkin you ask?

It's an amazing way to do crafting if you're super busy or don't want to do a lot of the work of creating stuff.  Every month you can get an AMAZING kit full of goodies that you can recreate in your spare time!  Some months you make cards...or a home decor project...or even goodie bags/holders!
The best part...is its a surprise!  So you find out when you open it how awesome it is.  (that's my favorite part...the anticipation!!)
also, its only $19.95 a month.  SO WORTH IT!!

For this month only!!  Sign up for MPP, and your first two months are 50% off!!!

Here is what I made using this month's kit so far:

Come back tomorrow and see how I turn some elements of this kit into part of a magical FROZEN birthday party ensemble!!  :)

Masculine Monday!

Masculine Monday! Yay!

I always struggle with making "man cards."  A lot of my stamps can be used in very silly, flowery, glittery ways.  Yay for those of us who like that!
My husband is usually a good sport about getting "girly" cards.  He really doesn't care as long as I made them.  That being said, I think he's always impressed when I make something WITHOUT flowers or glitter.  hehe
like this!

Our 10 year anniversary is coming up in a few weeks....I wonder if I can keep this a secret, and NOT lose it between now and then?   haha RIGHT

Just because it's for a guy, doesn't mean it can't have a little swirly writing and some bling. :)

I LOVE this new Thick Bakers Twine!!  And another colored button with my Blendabilities!!  I think the Woodgrain stamp is so perfect for a manly card, don't you?

Wanna see some more cards for the man (and little man!) in your life?
Head on over to SSINKspiration to see what the girls are up to on this Manly Monday!

Friday Favorites!

TGIF!!
No truer phrase has EVER been uttered....phew! What a week!

This week I finally kicked my kids out of their playroom and claimed it for my craft area.  Muah - ha ha!!

So not only have I been reorganizing, I've also been trying to beautify my new space!
(look for a before and after post next week!)

So when I thought about what I wanted to use in my space, this is what I came up with!

I am LOVING this Flower Patch stamp set and the coordinating Flower Flair Framelits!

You can buy them together as a bundle and save a little money too!

Now I know you're NOT shocked to hear that I used my Blendabilities to color the sliver button :)  but....Did you know you can make another really cool embellishment with your markers and a glue gun?!
If you have a silicone craft pad
, color the pad with a swipe of your Blendabilities, then add a dab of hot glue (use a high heat gun for best results) and make little "blobs"  When they dry, you can pop them off and they make the cutest little color bubbles!!  If you want a more intense color, you can always color over them.

Don't fret if you don't have a silicone pad...you can always just add a dab of hot glue to your project and color over it.  Either way, they are a super cute 3D embellishment!!

Feeling Sketchy ~ July

Come and see a fun new Card Sketch Challenge!  Yay!

Follow the link here to play along!

Here's my take on the challenge:

I have not jumped head first into the Project Life frenzy yet...but I am ready I think!  This sketch reminds me of the shape and ease of the PL cards.
I used the new All Abloom DSP Paper Pack.  LOVE the awesome variety in this pack!
All Abloom Designer Series Paper Stack by Stampin' Up!
It looks totally girly at first glance, but there are some really strong masculine prints in here!  And LOTS of colors to match with!

I used the Endless Birthday Wishes stamp set for the frenzy of words in the background and a greeting from the Flower Patch Polymer stamp set!

Your Awesomeness knows no boundaries!  Create this card!

Ink:  Soft Sky, So Saffron, Crumb Cake, Pacific Point, Mossy Meadow
Paper:  All Abloom DSP Paper Pack, Pacific Point, Whisper White

If a link doesn't work or you get off track, you will find the full blog hop lineup below.

Who doesn't love a good #TBT post!?
This week as we prepare for Stampin' Up!'s 26th Annual Convention in SLC, Utah, we're reminded that stamping has come a LONG way in those years!
Techniques have come and gone, styles have changed, and technology has made stamping a completely different industry.
What has NOT changed, is how timeless some stamp sets really are.
Here is an example!

This card was made using Fishin' from 1996!!  And @SoSocial from 2014/2015
I love the textures and the way this set reminds me of days spent fishing with my husband.  We are celebrating our 10th Anniversary next month,  I told him he was my inspiration for the card and I just KNEW he remembered exactly what I meant by it.
On our honeymoon we rented a boat and spent a whole day fishing.  Guess who caught the biggest fish?!?!!  Ha ha...it WASN'T him.  muah hahaha  :)

(speaking of the hubs, he kindly pointed out that I colored this Bass to look like a Perch...oh well, I still like him)

Our new Blendabilities make bringing water and grass to life SO simple!!  I am hooked!  (total pun intended!)

#whatagreatmoment  I completely agree :)

Calling all Kids!!

My kids have NO IDEA how lucky they are.
Who else would spend all day scouring the internet for THE perfect Batman card,
then spend all day trying to recreate it without any idea what that person used...
Only to have the kid tell me he doesn't like it.
well..
Holy Back to the Drawing Board Batman!

Freedom isn't Free. Thank You to every service member and their families...Past, Present, and Future

Happy 4th of July!
Also known as Hug-a-Service-member day!

I always loved celebrating the 4th of July as a kid.  Lots of family, bbqs, and fireworks.  I never really grasped the true meaning until I was an adult.  Yes, we celebrate our nation's freedom...but near and far we tend to forget that that freedom came at a price.  Soldiers lost their lives, families worry while their loved ones are at war/in service, and people mourn the lives of the brave who have gone before us.
Never will my words be enough to say thank you.   But I will continue to say it over and over and over again.
THANK YOU.
to the men and women who serve
to the families who live in limbo while their loved ones are away
to the people who have given the ultimate sacrifice.

Today we celebrate Freedom.  It will always be something I am extremely grateful to have.

While you're out celebrating this weekend, don't forget to nod your head for those who have made this day possible.

Join me and my fellow design team at SSInkspiration as we celebrate our service men and women (and their families)!

Wanna make this card and show someone you appreciate their contribution to Freedom?
Ink:  Momento Tuxedo Black, Marina Mist, Pacific Point, Real Red, Cherry Cobbler, Smokey Slate

Feeling Inspirational Today

Where were you the last time inspiration nearly bowled you over and you thought to yourself, "I MUST have/recreate THAT!!"

Yeah, me neither, but it was worth a shot?!  haha
For this week's Inspiration Challenge, we were given this piece:

Monet Claude Impression Sunset Sun
Monet Claude Impression sunset Sun

I am not going to lie.....I stared..and stared...and stared.
Do the colors inspire?  Do the lonely boaters inspire?  That amazing sun! or the textures that hold this peace in my mind as a fuzzy memory.

The answer?  D: All of the above!

Now I know what you're thinking....Donna, um...okay!

But I have to tell you this was super fun and its a great technique for making a really fuzzy and watery-looking background.

All you need are a few of our Stampin' Write Markers, a clear block,
and a spritzer with rubbing alcohol in it.
Take your markers (or you can use your ink pads if you want LOTS of color) and color the clean clear block in any pattern you want.  Go ahead....I'll wait.

Then take your spritzer and spray the block with the alcohol.  Use as little or as much as you want, but pause a second in between spritzes, it takes a second for the awesomeness to start.  You'll notice your ink merging and swirling as all of the dots of alcohol and lines of marker become a muddled pool of liquid.  Then stamp directly onto your paper with the block!
The alcohol acts as a great liquifier but since our inks are water based, they swirl in the alcohol as opposed to mixing.  (if you used plain water for this sample, you'd end up with a watery shade of brown...yum)

Here is a close up so you can see what the colors look like when the alcohol dries.  It dries super quick, unlike water, so that's a bonus too!
Notice that some of the colors are more blurry, but they are still separate and not completely mixed.  I LOVE this about using alcohol for spritzing!!

Today over at SSInkspiration, some of my fellow designers have taken a crack at an inspiration challenge that you are going to LOVE LOVE LOVE!!

See you tomorrow for another round of Friday Favorites!!
~Donna
